In 1967, Motown released the double-LP, 20-song Greatest Hits album by Diana Ross and the Supremes. In 1986, the label reissued the album as two separate CDs (though it could have fit on one). Volume 2 chronicled the group's continuing reign at the top of charts from 1965 to 1967, including the number one hits "I Hear a Symphony," "You Can't Hurry Love," "You Keep Me Hangin' On," "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone," and "The Happening." During this period, The Supremes were second only to The Beatles as the most successful pop group. At 27 minutes, this is a skimpy album, especially for a CD, but it contains some of The Supremes' biggest hits. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
