This CD is really a mixed bag. It is an unofficial release that has shown up with various titles and covers. The tracks are all old songs that pre-date Alice Cooper, going back to his Vincent Furnier days. The recording quality here is above bootleg but definitely a bit rough around the edges. The songs themselves vary pretty greatly. Cuts like "Painting a Picture" and "Nobody Likes Me" are quite typical of early Alice -- the twisted psychedelia is quite intact. In fact, those two cuts appear in one form or another on official recordings. Some of the material comes across as rather difficult listening, leaning toward painful at times. There are definite leanings toward the music of the Who and early Hawkwind. The last two tracks on the album are pretty typical blues-oriented rock & roll. All in all, this disc is a good addition to the collections of Cooper completists, but casual listeners should probably steer clear. ~ Gary Hill, All Music Guide
