Jacqueline Brookes was one of but a handful of American actors accepted for training in the 1950s by Britain's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her New York stage premiere occured in a 1955 off-Broadway production of Tiger at the Gates; not long afterward, she won a Theatre World award for her work in The Cretan Women.
