The double-disc import Timepieces/Timepieces, Vol. 2 collects the decent Eric Clapton retrospective Timepieces -- which features '70s hits such as "I Shot the Sheriff," "After Midnight," "Wonderful Tonight," Derek & the Dominos' "Layla," and "Cocaine" -- and the relatively lackluster Timepieces II: Live '70s Performances. While "Tulsa Time," "If I Don't Be There by Morning," and "Rambling on My Mind" offer some glimpses of Clapton's virtuosity, on its own the album is not that interesting for his casual fans. Bundling it with Timepieces makes it a slightly more interesting proposition for anyone interested in Clapton's '70s singles and live performances, but it's still not an ideal package for either Clapton diehards or newcomers. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
