This bootleg contains five tracks from 1972-1973, none of which turned up on Bruce Springsteen's regular albums. "Bishop Dance," and broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, is a live recording (probably made on August 30, 1972, at Max's Kansas City in New York), featuring acoustic guitar and accordion, in a style similar to "Wild Billy's Circus Story." "Santa Ana," "Seaside Bar Song," and "Zero and Blind Terry" are studio outtakes from the sessions for The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle. They were properly left off the album, since they aren't as good as what made the cut, but they provide greater insight into one of Springsteen's best albums and are worth hearing. "Thundercrack," recorded live, is one of Springsteen's extended jazzy suites (on the order of "Jungleland") and also is illuminating. Sound quality is good. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
