Blondie

When Headlines was recorded at the Paradise Ballroom in Boston on November 4, 1978, Blondie was touring in support of its third studio album, Parallel Lines (which had come out two months earlier and was proving to be their biggest album). A rare bootleg LP, Headlines offers sound quality that is decent though not great. Gems from Parallel Lines account for at least half of Headlines, although Blondie also turns its attention to some favorites from Blondie ("X Offender," "In the Sun") and Plastic Letters ("Fan Mail," "Denis," "Presence Dear") and closes with an engaging cover of T. Rex's "Bang a Gong." If you had to choose between Headlines and My Girlfriend's Back (a bootleg that was recorded at Philadelphia's Walnut Theater only two nights later), the latter would be a better choice because it has superior sound quality. Nonetheless, diehard fans were quite happy to have Headlines if they could find a copy. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
