The Beatles

A sort of a no-brainer, this release -- it would be a year before a Beatles hit compilation would show up in England, but EMI managed to get out this mini hits collection featuring "She Loves You," "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and "Can't Buy Me Love," none of which had been on anything but separate singles in the U.K. In the context of four-song platters, this was one of the gold standards for content and better than many of others EMI put out on the band, in that its content was unique at the time. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
