BAND WRECKER Sammy Hagar of Van Halen
Band Wreckers
Band wreckers are the worst kind of singers. They are those dudes who take advantage of an unstable group relationship and insert themselves in the middle. They break into a band and destroy their happy home. And who suffers? The children do. The children always suffer. All of those fans whose childhood memories of beloved bands are forever dashed by seeing step-singers replace their favorite vocalists.
Here's our FlipBook of the Biggest Band Wreckers Ever. They all have a special place in rock hell reserved for them. A place where hack tribute bands play all day and Barry Manilow plays all night.

I think they were both on drugs and are now sober. The is a train wreck. I think the child has been through enough trama. She needs a stable home. "
ddfstop said "Children always suffer when their adults start acting like "children!" Tax Evation?? That woman is a fine role model for her daughter ... not! She should never be allowed to have any custody of their daughter because the daughter will only get bounced back to Jesse and Sandra the next time she decides to mess with the IRS. Even a genius will testify that that is not very smart ... forget being a genious. It ain't nice ta mess wit da IRS!!'Nuff said!"

The merry-go-round of lead singers in Van Halen being called band wreckers? ...Seriously? The only thing that screwed that band up was the lead guitarist and the incredibly inflated ego he dragged along with him! As for Michael Hutchence being called a band wrecker? He FREAKIN DIED for gods sake! I would hardly call him a band wrecker for it! Also showing the new frontman of Journey and having the words band wrecker as the caption...was pretty freakin low. This guys brand new to the scene and already you're associating him with the megalomaniac Steve Perry?? Who writes these articles for Yahoo!? A high school news paper?

The worst part of the whole INXS experiment (that's what I'm calling it) is that they turned it into a cheesy prime-time game show. Michael Hutchence could never be replaced, and for them to do it the way they did was TACKY! I was really disappointed in Navarro for being entangled in that mess. Although if anyone should know.......

Can't believe no one mentioned Peter Cetera of Chicago. Chicago was a brilliant band until this guy showed up and turned the music into nauseating pop slush.
Honorable mention: the guy (don't know his name) who ruined Santana.

OK. I will give you a few of those but the Hagar/Van Halen split was a mutual ego trip. Plus they made a lot of money with Hagar and the albums were the direction Eddie wanted to go anyway. Dio did not wreck Sabbath. The 7 singers since then did maybe. Probably that ABBA cover album they did....BAD!!!
Journey actually sounds pretty good with the new guy. Not Steve Perry but this guy has better pipes live. The Doors with anyone else is a mistake. Same with Queen. The singers were the identity of those bands. Morrison and Mercury are not replaceable.

How dare you put Ronnie James Dio on this list. I won't argue that the Dio years of Black Sabbath were as good as the Ozzy years (although, I personally think they are) but I will at least say that the first album with Dio is better than the last album with Ozzy. Even my friend who hates Dio admits that he likes Heaven and Hell.

David Lee Roth had (LSD)-lead singer disease.....and left at a good time. Sammy was great and brought new light to the band. I think Dave did a good job but showed that he could only last for a while without a good band behind him. I give credit to Sammy for giving the fans a great show every time and great albums time after time with Van Halen. I just wish they could of stayed together.....but as they say......the show must go on!!!

Did anybody notice that Michael Hutchence is wearing a tribute shirt to fallen-and-replaced AC/DC frontman, Bon Scott? Irony?

Okay, you are SO missing Styx with this lout Lawrence Gowan.
Yes, we know that Dennis DeYoung is a monstrous megalomaniac... but the man could SING, and he could WRITE. Something the aforementioned Gowan-creature has still not proven he can do (Canadian Elton John, puh-leeze!).
I'm sure there are all sorts of people who don't miss DDY's poisonous attitudes toward his ex-band-mates (including James Young and Tommy Shaw), but -- whether the present membership likes it or not -- without DDY and his towering ego, the group is just a faded cover version of itself.
Here's hoping someone locks them all in a room together, lets them kick the crap out of each other for a while until it's out of their system, then puts them up on stage together once and for all. Unless Tommy still thinks it's just fan-tas-tic to be playing in ever-shrinking mini-arenas.
