Those new singers no matter good or bad shouldn't have replaced the original band singers instead they should form their own band and build their own name. I'm a huge fan of FUEL with Brett Scallions now I don't even want to pay attention to them because they replaced him with a wannabe. They even replaced him with someone whose voice sounds similar to him.

I would rather see Steve Perry in concert singing Journey songs with a different band than the rest of the members of Journey with some guy with not as good of a voice and a bad perm! Steve Perry has one of the best and most unique voices in music. There is no substitute for his talent.

Who reads these articles in Yahoo? A high school level reader? Mr.theabbevillekid you might think about double checking your source of irritation before you send it off to be printed and read by a few hundred thousand people most of whom will also catch this embarrassing mistaken rebuttal of yours. Nowhere did the writer call Michael Hutchence a band wrecker and the writer did correctly note that Michael Hutchence had died therefore the need to find a replacement who was, in fact, the band wrecker. Try waiting till after homework before you burn one.

as a veteran of over 1200+ shows .i know a good concert. im speaking about the Doors at the orpheum in boston with ian astbury.that was a superb show i would love to see it again dave from saugus ma

I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd with a substitute singer years after whichever Van Zandt died. It was ridiculous. At least they did an instrumental version of Freebird rather than the poorman's version that would have been.
I loved Bad Co and Paul Rogers in his heyday. I just can't see him with Queen. Doesn't seem like a fit.

I realize that STEVE PERRY was Not the original lead singer of JOURNEY, BUT he IS the voice that turned JOURNEY into what it became. Steve Perry should NEVER have been replaced... maybe one day the band will realize their mistake in replacing him instead of going and ruining the JOURNEY voice and name. I have bought every CD of Journey, but I don't listen to them over and over again like I did all the albums with Steve Perry's robust voice and flavor he brought to the Band. Escape was exactly that, an Escape to a new level with a new Keyboardist who wrote some Beautiful music with Perry, but without Perry's contribution, it has never been the same. Bring him back guys, the new lead singer from the Philippines is good, but even he would have to admit, no one should have ever replaced Steve Perry.

I'm glad AC/DC was left out of this....since one was a legend (Bon) but one sang on probably the greatest rock record ever ...Back In Black...kudos to Johnson and to the band that made the best transition ever in the most unfortunate of circumstances!!!

sure hate it,,,,did o.k. until Ronnie James Dio with Sabbath,,,,listen to "Heaven an nell" then reconsider your posting Dio as a band wrecker........maybe if ozzy could have controlled his substances instead of his substances controlling him this wouldn't even be an issue of debate. As it is the dio/Sabbath union was the pooh for that time period!!

Chicago was and IS a brilliant band, but Cetera was there from the beginning (before they released their first album). I agree that most of the songs that Cetera sang lead on in the late 70's and 80's weren't up there with what came before, but that was the nature of the group and not just because of one guy. Also, two of their classics, 25 or 6 to 4 and Feelin' Stronger Everyday, were sung by Cetera. They're the most underappreciated "rock" music group of all time IMO...they should've been inducted in the R & R Hall of Fame years ago but sadly probably never will.

complete dribble. this article was meant to sucker your ire and take aim at a false premise. by the way, david lee roth was one dimentional as was so many singers and other musicians who run their creative course. only david lee had no real talent to begin with. VH w/ sammy went on to new levels. in the end it was sammy who led the band to new creative levels, not the other way around. look at the current VH lineup...nothing new and there will be nothing new. david lee is nothing but a temporary fad for the VH brothers to have some fun with wolfgang who know their mortaility is near. just wait for that mouth cancer to re-appear and that's it the jig is over.
