The previous post advising that the girl in the Rio Film Clip is a transexual, I did a bit of research and this is a extract I found from a website
Tula appeared ONLY in the Power Station video for 'Some Like It Hot'. At the time I don't believe that the band realized that she was a post-operative transsexual, but I think she was absolutely PERFECT for the part. I thought she was very sexy!!!
The actress in the Rio video was.....and this comes directly from dd.com's Ask Katy from December 4, 2000....

What is the name of the model who starred in the Rio video. Surprisingly hard to find.
THE NAME OF THE MODEL IS REMA…AND THE GUYS HAVEN’T SEEN HER SINCE THE DAY OF THE RIO VIDEO SHOOT.
I have no idea where IMDB got any of their information, but it is obviously incorrect when it comes to these two bits of information.
Her model name was "Reema" for this job, but her real name is "Tula" or Caroline Cossey, and she was born a man. The band members didn't know about her real identity at the time. Check it out:
Tawny Kitaen was gorgeous back then.. Never cared much for Whitesnake though. The only "hair bands" that stand out (imo) are Def Leppard and The Scorpions. Loved Duran Duran though-they were the 80's pop scene...
Saw The Cars way back in 1985 at Merriweather, and their performance of "Drive" gave me chills- it was amazing!
FYI... In regards to Reema in Duran Duran's video, "Rio", she got the job because she looked like the print that Patrick Nagel was commissioned to do...that became one of the most easily recognized albums in history.
the Cars "Drive" still has that haunting feeling and brings back memories after many years...despite the primative production values it l makes you feel the lyric...one of my favs
ebedel10016, please tell me that you're being ironic with your comment.
Okay, let me rephrase that. Please tell me that you MEANT to be ironic with your comment.
Paulina Porizkova was only 19 when she starred in this Timothy Hutton-directed video. Even though she was the object of bassist Ben Orr's affection (he sang lead on this song), it was bandleader Ric Ocasek who really wanted her, even though he was 35 and married with kids. They finally tied the knot in '89 and have two kids of their own. To make ends meet she's done time on "America's Next Top Model" and "Dancing with the Stars."
