Celebrity Rehab Success Stories
Melanie Griffith voluntarily checked herself into rehab last week at Utah's Cirque Lodge. Her reps say it's a routine stay to "reinforce her commitment to stay healthy" (kind of like a dental cleaning?). Rumors say her hubby, the "too-sexy" Antonio Banderas, is fed up with her drinking and gave her an ultimatum. We say she wants more jewelry, since last time she got out of rehab Antonio showered her with a $40,000 congratulatory diamond-and-platinum bracelet.
Whatever the real reason for the trip to Utah, we do wish Melanie luck. Despite her numerous treatments in the past and the seemingly endless tragic Hollywood addiction stories (like the recent death of D.J. AM), Tinseltown is also filled with its share of successes. Check out this list of celebrities who've been able to beat their own demons after one (or more) stints in rehab.
hollylolly said "my cousin went to the same arts magnet schooh as norah jones *i didn't know this* so when i went home to texas she was flipping through my ipod and randomly exclamed "norah jones is a bitch" and it was just so odd it was funny... apparently she was rude to almost everyone and acted really entitled and basically like a diva who thought she was better than everyone.. lol i mean i don't know people do change but i just though it was funny to see this because everytime i hear her name i always thing "what a bitch" haha "
Chopergirl said "I have always loved her. She has been a very good part of entertainment - I remember when she was in Roots. AND then CHEERS, and then the talking babies with John Travolta. My gosh, we all have problems, and with those come stress eating at times...She is beautiful regardless of what she weighs, and not only physically beautiful, but also beautiful inside. She has had her heart broke just like the rest of us, and struggles like the rest of us....to bad people expect her to be perfect as that is what imperfect people like to see - someone perfect to make them feel better. Projecting their OWN disappointment onto others, in some sick way, makes them feel a little better. That is a terrible post about her. I will watch her show."
Sardonica said "How is she anymore a train wreck than ANY body else, celebrity or not? We all have our issues. She is at least trying to better herself, not trash those around her, or laugh at the misfortunes of others. You're as bad as Perez. YOU are the one that needs to get a life, not her. "
ratt said "Don't the people who read this crap have anything at all better to worry about? Is it REALLY any of your concern what this movie star or that musician is up to in their personal lives? Did any of you useless tabloid bottom feeding twats notice that I used the word PERSONAL? Not likely, because the people that read this stuff don't think anyone has a life that they can't have access to. A word for those who have nothing better to do than concern themselves about others in the spotlight... pathetic."
jesslisby said "rynn phillips needs to get over his self...he is the one whom made his own problems. mabye if he kept his pants on and didn't treat his wife at the time with such disregaurd, he might still have full custody of his children, and a wonderful wife..look what you traded down for. but bravo to reese...look who she traded up for."

Well well Hailey Joel. I guess there goes your American boy image, which may help him. Lets be honest, I think every single american male or female can get a DUI. Every person who is old enough to get beer and a license at some time has driven drunk. Impairment begins withthe first drink. Now if he gets a second one, he's an idiot. Thank God no one got hurt. I think he is a gifted actor and has a bright future. He needs to play a villain now. I think he'll be alright.

I dont know much about Nicole Richie. I think she was just a bored Hollywood daughter. I hope she is happy now and sees that ones family is truly all you need to be happy.

Whitney Houston. Well, I guess Clive Davis earned a spot in Heaven for getting Whitney away from bobby Brown. Who didnt see this coming when Whit got her "bad boy"? I always liked her, but after viewing that show with her husband, it was grotesque, it was like a train wreck or a fat girl in spandex. I cant even listen to here glorious early work because I think of a crack addict. Whether you're a millionaire or homeless, a crack addict is a crack addict. She should take 25% of all her futuremoney and donate it to some rehab facility for homeless addicts. She is no better than they are, except she had a golden parachute that kept her from truly falling off the edge.

Eminem. How long can a woman shake your world? as long as you let her. I understand and commiserate with EM for trying to keep his family together for Hailey. But that girl Kim is just trashy. Sometimes love just aint enough and Kim Matthers has proven that no matter how hard Eminem wants a nucleur family for his daughter, its just better that Kim is not involved. My heart breaks for that little girl when she understands how much her mommy screwed up chance after chance to keep the family intact and I hope that she sees how hard her daddy worked, to a fault, with little dignity left, just to make his little girl happy.

Andy Dick. This guy makes me laugh...in the good way. He really entertains me. He borders on genius the way Woody Allen does in respect to playing insecure, nuerotic characters, which I think isn't far off from who he really is. I saw him on Dr. Drews show and believed he was sincere. Seeing him with his son made me cry and I prayed for Any Dick that night. I see his passion and love for his son and I root for him every chance I see him. He is one of the only ones where I think he is a victim of a disease and not a spoiled, narcisstic actor.

Ben Affleck. I like this guy. He took the 2nd lead on the film he wrote with Matt Damon. They both deserved Oscars for "Good Will Hunting". I rememebr the guys saying that the next movie they write, Ben would get the lead and I've been waiting ever since. He's one of the few actors where I'm not jealous of him. I think he's a good worker, good actor, and his range is explanding with every film he does. Still not on par with Damon, whom I think will get an individual Oscar before Ben. But for a young dude to check into rehab for alcoholism, shows a very intelligent man.

Charlie Sheen. My first thought is, "How'd he get so buff for those comedic movies where he played Rambo?". But this kid has had a dream life I think as far as a young man is concerned. He was making whoopie with all the famous young Hollywood actresses, but that still wasnt enough. The Guns n Roses lyric goes, "i used to do a little til a little wasn't doing so a little got more and more, I just keep trying to get a little better, a little better than before. This guy is about excess. HE is spoiled. I hope his kids turn out okay.

Wow. I would sa is a has-been, but that comes across like she has a body of work and I dont consider one television series a body of work. "For the grace of God, there go I" rings here, I know it is very easy for anyone to get hooked if they get into drigs, but for some reason, I don't have mush solace for ol' Marcia. She backstabbed her former cast-mates with ambiguious statements. She completed her 15 minutes of fame with her book. Now she has nothing left to offer us. Check Please!

Robert Downey is a genius as far as I am concerned. He truly becomes the character he is playing. I didnt like him in Less Than Zero because he played the role so well, that I was totally disgusted with him. Its nice to see him making some cash after blowing it all, excuse the pun, but for an actor whom I think of as an artist, the Iron Man movies seems like selling out. He should have a few Oscars(r) by now, but I'm glad to see him on top of Hollywood. He has entertained me for years, and also dropped some knowledge on me through his painful moments.
