Oprah and Rachel Ray on 'The Rachel Ray Show'
Just because you can act or play basketball or do stand-up or cook, doesn’t mean you should have your own talk show. In fact, frequently, this means you probably you stick with what you do best and leave hosting talk shows to the experts.
This is an important time in celebrity talk show history, William Shatner is getting all Barbara Walters-y on his new series, Shatner’s Raw Nerve. Former angry punk rocker Elvis Costello is getting all sweet and cuddly on his series, Spectacle. And veteran SNL "Weekend Update" giggler Jimmy Fallon is gearing up to take over for Conan O’Brien in a couple of months. It's a perilous time for talk shows to be sure. Only time will tell where will these newcomers fall in the annals of celebrity talk show hosts. In the meantime, we've rated those who've come — and gone.
