Kato's shot at true celebrity was over before it even started. In 1986 aspiring actor Kato shot a Coke commercial and then did a low-budget comedy called "Beach Fever." But he didn't find fame until 1994 when Kato became the best known house guest in history and a peripheral witness in the O.J. Simpson murder trial. His acting career was pretty much shot, but his brush with fame had just begun. "Howard Stern," "The Norm Show," "The Mr. Show," "Sunset Tan," and "Celebrity Boot Camp" followed. There's no stopping Kato. Then again. Maybe there is. For several years he's been shopping his own reality show "Houseguest" (where he knocks on strangers doors and asks if he can be their house guest). So far no takers on the living arrangements or the show.
