Everybody needs to know about the numbers of people infected with AIDS world wide and in Africa. They probably wouldn't pay attention if Anthony Fauci, the director of the NIH was telling them, but they would pay attention and more importanlty act, if Bono told them.

I'm living with HIV and on disability myself, and I can tell you Bono and U2 walk their talk. I know this because I was able to see them at Soldier Field in Chicago this month because I could actually afford the ticket!

I only paid $30 for a musically brilliant and visually stunning show. Those same seats for ANY other major band would have easily been $80+.

If I ever met Bono, or U2, I'd tell them I appreciate the fact that I love the song "The Unforgettable Fire" and that they allow people of limited financial means see them perform live.

Why does MJ come in fourth in your series? That is patent nonsense, both in terms of scale and in proportion to his income!

What about Jon Bon Jovi? look at everything he does and has done for charity. Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, and benefit concerts in NJ to help feed the homeless are just a few of examples.

No list of Most Generous Musicians is worth its salt if it does not include Harry Chapin.

These retards forgot the greatest contributor of all. ELVIS PRESLEY. Elvis (when he was living) gave to over 50 charitable organizations, as well as buying complete strangers cars and gifts. Not only that, and even in death, Elvis STILL gives more money to charities (Elvis Presely Enterprises). He gives much more than singers.groups who are alive. FACT.

Egomaniacal? Why would you be so judgmental of a person trying to better the world for anyone. If the grateful dead did (what you consider more) behind closed doors you have to consider what they did. You cant do what Bono is doing behind closed doors.

The Grateful Dead have privately contributed more than anyone on this entire list...but because they are not egomaniacal the world will never know. There is a difference between plastering your name upon a school, building, or bridge and anonymously funding the entire nation's soup kitchens for decades from behind the scenes...among countless other contributions. Case in point>>>they never even made your list. Embarrassing.

Too bad Planned Parenthood is a perpetrator of black genocide and has eugenic roots.
