I don't think Lennon had a big ego. he was very insicure, with big problems of caracter. when he said that about jesus in 1964 or 1965 in Beatlemania times, he thought " look at these morons, they adore us like gods."

Maybe Elvis Costello has a big ego - I don't know. But I don't think that his hosting a talk show with interesting and powerful guests requires that he have a big ego. I think it's a really good show and I'm kind of surprised that it stayed on a 2nd season.
