GREY'S ANATOMY, Katherine Heigl, 2005-present
Stars Who Left Hit Shows
Rumors continue to fly that Katherine Heigl is unhappy on "Grey's Anatomy" and has one foot out the door (which the writer's are probably holding open after Heigl's slam last year, taking her name out of Emmy consideration because her storyline wasn't strong enough). And while Katherine thinks she's poised for a big film career, we offer her these two words of caution - David Caruso. Remember Katherine, anyone could have played your part in "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses" was NOT an instant classic. We'd think long and hard before we walked away from the show that made us a star if we were you. So start praying that the writers forgive you and find a cure for Izzy's cancer.

She should never be allowed to have any custody of their daughter because the daughter will only get bounced back to Jesse and Sandra the next time she decides to mess with the IRS. Even a genius will testify that that is not very smart ... forget being a genious. It ain't nice ta mess wit da IRS!!'Nuff said!"

I think the biggest mistake was when CBS fired Mackenzie Phillips from "One Day at A Time" like they did; what they should have done was referred her to drug and alcohol rehab, and then if that didn't work, then give her a choice: either quit or be fired.

Don't forget Freddie Prinze leaving "Chico and the Man," and Peter Duel leaving "Alias Smith and Jones" - the ultimate dead-end departures.

I guess it's in another generation, but Pernell Roberts left Bonanza and struggled until he put his mark on the less-than-culture changing TV series "Trapper John, MD."
Neither show will win a hall of fame nomination for him, but at least we know he stood behind his ego.

How about Pernell Roberts who left Bonanza and more recently Katie Couric who left the Today show to become an overpayed flop as a evening news anchor on cbs!

Was Chevy Chase's career really ruined when he left SNL? I happen to love him and his movies. He's a classic for comedy along with Steve Martin. But once Delta Burke left 'Designing Women', it ruined the show. Between her and the other woman (I can't remember her real name) "Charlene" it was just never the same. Their replacements were awful and the show was not worth watching anymore. So what if Delta gained weight? What a terrible reason to be run off of a hit show that she helped get to where it was!
