PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLDS END, Johnny Depp, 2007
The Replacements
The sudden departure of Dick Cook as head of Disney Studios shocked a lot of people — among them, Johnny Depp, who credits Cook for getting him onboard the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise before there was even a script for the first movie (a practically unheard-of feat in Hollywood). The executive shuffle at the Mouse House left Depp with a self-proclaimed "crack in [his] enthusiasm," making some wonder if Captain Jack Sparrow will set sail after "Pirates" film #4.
We were relieved to hear that if Depp doesn't return, neither will Captain Jack. Instead, Sparrow will be replaced by a new sea captain. For a moment we thought producers might pull a "Bewitched" move and just swap out one actor for another in the same role. That's happened more often than you'd think in Hollywood, with varying degrees of success. Here are some of Tinseltown's most notorious attempts at moving on with replacement actors.

Chopergirl said "I have always loved her. She has been a very good part of entertainment - I remember when she was in Roots. AND then CHEERS, and then the talking babies with John Travolta. My gosh, we all have problems, and with those come stress eating at times...She is beautiful regardless of what she weighs, and not only physically beautiful, but also beautiful inside. She has had her heart broke just like the rest of us, and struggles like the rest of us....to bad people expect her to be perfect as that is what imperfect people like to see - someone perfect to make them feel better. Projecting their OWN disappointment onto others, in some sick way, makes them feel a little better. That is a terrible post about her. I will watch her show."
Sardonica said "How is she anymore a train wreck than ANY body else, celebrity or not? We all have our issues. She is at least trying to better herself, not trash those around her, or laugh at the misfortunes of others. You're as bad as Perez. YOU are the one that needs to get a life, not her. "
ratt said "Don't the people who read this crap have anything at all better to worry about? Is it REALLY any of your concern what this movie star or that musician is up to in their personal lives? Did any of you useless tabloid bottom feeding twats notice that I used the word PERSONAL? Not likely, because the people that read this stuff don't think anyone has a life that they can't have access to. A word for those who have nothing better to do than concern themselves about others in the spotlight... pathetic."
jesslisby said "rynn phillips needs to get over his self...he is the one whom made his own problems. mabye if he kept his pants on and didn't treat his wife at the time with such disregaurd, he might still have full custody of his children, and a wonderful wife..look what you traded down for. but bravo to reese...look who she traded up for."

Nobody did James Bond better than Roger Moore?? How much did he pay you to say that???!!! He was too old, too infirm, unable to deliver even the simplest of punchlines... and guilty of the worst ever match-up of male/female 'intimacy' when they expected us to believe he and Grace Jones could ever have relations without him being either crushed, swallowed whole or have his pacemaker give out!!!!

The Pirates of the Carribean trilogy lost its charm after the first movie. The other two are ultra boring. No need to make any more.

I knew that was a fake "Jan Brady" when I saw a photo in TV Guide, but my father convinced me that it was the real one and she looked different because she wasn't wearing her glasses!
And my 6-year-old self believed it, LOL!

Actually the "Partridge Family" was a complete replacement for "The Cowsill's." After negotiations broke down with them, TV just got rid of the dad, put in a manager and remade the family with actors.

The James Bond franchise has nothing on Doctor Who in terms of replacement actors.

I couldn't imagine Jack Sparrow being played by anyone else!! Now, a new character could be written with a name like ... "George Aardvark" and be from Australia! *giggle* Perhaps, Sparrow and Aardvark could meet and have a knock-down-drag-out about whose the better pirate ... different than the fight that Sparrow and the black-smith had.
