Purple Twiggy

The quintessential waif. Lesley Hornby was the daughter of a carpenter and a Woolworth's store clerk, who got her first modeling contract at 16 and rose quickly. She decided to use her childhood nickname of Twiggy and went on to become the icon of Swinging London. She had a Barbie doll made after her and hung with Bowie, Tommy Tune, and the Muppets. Let's blame her for the onslaught of '70s fad diets as well. Someone's gotta be responsible.
