Click on game window and select [N] to start placing your bets.

Set-up: 

Place bets by selecting player number (1 to 6) + [enter]. Enter bet amount with number keys, [enter].

A "W" will appear next to the bet amount. There are two types of bets, a bet for one horse to win ("W") and an exacta bet ("E") for two horses to win and place in order. To switch to an exacta bet, press [9] .  Press [enter] to confirm the bet type.

Each race only has four horses running.  To see the horses and their odds on the tip sheet, press [control] + [shift].  Each horse is identified by the color of its saddle blanket. Choose the horse you would like to bet on by pressing the number button associated with the horse's color. Press [enter] to confirm the horse choice.

If you are making an exacta bet, choose a second horse different from the first and press enter. After all bets are placed, press [0] and then hit [enter] to start the race. And they're off! At the end of each race, the game returns back to the betting sheet to show the results of the race.
